On March 27, 2014, a fatal car accident on 38th Avenue N occurred. Sadly, this deadly crash in St. Petersburg killed one person and left three people with injuries. According to a St. Petersburg police report, this accident took place Thursday morning at the intersection of 38th Avenue N and 34th Street N.
After the St. Petersburg police investigated the three-vehicle accident, they determined that a Honda Civic clipped the rear of a red Ford Escape—causing the crash. Tuong Nguyen, the 63-year-old driver of the Honda Civic, was traveling east on 38th Avenue N when he made a left turn onto 34th Street N. When he attempted his turn, he clipped the Escape that was headed west on 38th Avenue N.
Vayneveu Kene Bruessard, the driver of the Escape, was sent spinning across the median and into oncoming traffic. After spinning counter-clockwise, the Escape flipped over and collided into a white Ford F150 truck. Bruessard, a 25-year-old St. Petersburg woman, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was partially thrown from the vehicle. Sadly, Bruessard suffered a critical head injury and passed away at the accident scene.
Georgia Lawler, the 68-year-old driver of the truck, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for medical treatment. His passenger, 30-year-old Joshua Blalock, was uninjured. The driver of the Civic was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
St. Petersburg police still have this crash under investigation and no charges have been made at this time.
Mallard Perez is saddened to hear of this tragedy and extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Vayneveu Kene Bruessard. We would like to also wish Georgia Lawler a complete recovery.
