Police indicated that 23-year-old Dennis Shambora, of Venice, was driving southbound on Yorkshire Boulevard around 5 p.m. Sunday, and that his car ran a stop sign and collided into a car driven by Erin K. Sechrest, 42, of North Point. Upon impact, Shambora was thrown from his car as the car rolled over.
Erin K. Sechrest was traveling with Joshua Mote, 18, and Krishna Mote, Joshua’s brother. Joshua was critically injured in this crash, as the car struck the passenger side on which he was located. He was airlifted in critical condition to Blake Medical Center in Manatee County for medical treatment following the crash. Sechrest and Mote’s brother were also airlifted to the hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the other car was taken to Blake Medical Center’s Trauma Center in serious condition.
Joshua Mote was reported to have died in the crash, but the Herald-Tribune printed a correction to an earlier version of the story. He is last known to be in critical condition. Mote was a former North Port High School student in 2010 and 2011, said Sarasota School District Spokesman Scott Ferguson.
Troopers are still investigating this Florida crash and charges are pending.
Sarasota accident attorneys at Mallard Perez would like to wish all injured in this crash full and speedy recoveries.
