On Monday, May 14, 2012, a Sarasota crash occurred just south of Whitfield that involved a scooter and two passenger vehicles. According to police, the scooter driver is in critical condition following the collision.

Around 5:15 a.m., a scooter was traveling northbound on U.S. 301 approaching the Whitfield Avenue exit when it was hit from behind.  Victoria Mann, a 47-year-old Sarasota woman, was driving the scooter at the time of the crash.  According to authorities, she was thrown from the scooter and then run over by another driver.

Mann was transported to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton by ambulance and remains in critical condition at this time.

The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for the silver Nissan that ran over Mann and then fled the accident scene.  According to the report, it appears that Mann was hit from behind by a Toyota that failed to slow down, driven by 26-year-old Jubal Gordon, of Sarasota. Gordon was not injured in the crash. The Nissan that was following the Toyota was not able to stop in time and ran over Mann. That driver then sped away.

The Florida Highway Patrol charged Gordon with careless driving, and they are searching for the other driver who left the scene. Troopers were informed that the car that hit Mann was a silver Nissan driven by a woman. They are asking for anyone with information about the hit-and-run driver to call 239-938-1800.

Our Sarasota car crash lawyers at Mallard Perez would like to wish Victoria Mann a full and fast recovery.
