A 14-year-old boy was awarded $5 million after he was injured during a church ski trip.

According to our partners at the St.  Petersburg Times, a Hillsborough County jury decided the Idlewild Baptist Church was responsible for the injuries the teen suffered in 2003.

He was a first-time skier and was left unsupervised during the trip.

The boy wandered onto an expert level ski slope and slammed into another person at 55 mph.
The accident left him with permanent nerve damage and a limp foot.
